Man dies on construction site in Co Offaly

The Health and Safety Authority has launched an investigation into the death of a worker on a construction site in Co Offaly yesterday evening.

The man in his late 30s was working on the construction of an ESB power plant in the west of the county when he was involved in an accident involving heavy-lifting equipment.

The HAS has sent two inspectors to the scene of the accident, which happened at around 5pm.

The dead man was employed by a firm of sub-contractors working on the power plant.
