Govt urged to approve funding for stadium project
Fine Gael TD Jimmy Deenihan has called on the Government to approve funding for the joint FAI/IRFU plan to redevelop the Lansdowne Road stadium in Dublin.
Mr Deenihan said today that the €250m plan to construct a 50,000-seater national stadium in Lansdowne was "very practical".
The cabinet is due to discuss whether to provide funding for the project at a meeting today.
Reports this morning said any definitive decision was likely to be postponed due to concerns about planning objections from local resident and other construction-related difficulties.
