British chain accused of ripping off Irish consumers

Fine Gael has claimed that British chain stores with outlets here are ripping off Irish consumers.

A survey has found that Tesco, Habitat and Argos all charge their Irish customers more than their British counterparts for the exact same products.

Fine Gael carried out the study after a series of emails to their RipOff.ie website raised the issue.

In some cases, the items were 87% higher here than in the UK.

Other outlets like Dixons and Marks and Spencer charged the same prices in both countries.

Fine Gael's Richard Bruton believes this shows there is no excuse for the rip off.
