The Co Sligo farmer jailed for threatening and abusing hill-walkers using his land is due to be released later today.

Andy McSharry was fined €300 for the offences, but was sent to Loughan House for two weeks when he refused to pay the fine.

He has since become a celebrity among farmers in the west, who are steadfastly opposed to hill-walkers using their land.
