Aer Rianta unions 'should be penalised'

The Government is being told it should penalise any Aer Rianta union that seeks to disrupt Ireland's Presidency of the EU.

The Air Transport Users Council of the Chambers of Commerce of Ireland says Aer Rianta staff should have their concerns adequately addressed.

However, council chairman Tadgh Kearney says SIPTU has gone too far by targeting EU ministerial meetings for disruption.

Aer Rianta staff attached to SIPTU are planning a series of work stoppages, with the first set to take place tomorrow week just as EU dignitaries are due to arrive at Dublin Airport for a conference hosted by the Department of Justice.
