De Rossa seeks tougher controls on nuclear waste

Irish MEP Pronsias de Rossa has called for tougher EU controls on nuclear waste.

Mr de Rossa also said it was unacceptable that countries like Ireland had no say in decisions about nuclear facilities in EU member states.

The Labour Party MEP said such decisions had the potential to affect all European citizens.

The European Parliament is examining two reports this week focusing on the management of nuclear fuel and radioactive waste.
