Italian tourists rescued from Wicklow Gap

Gardaí and locals from Roundwood, Co. Wicklow, have rescued 60 Italian tourists who got stranded in the Wicklow Mountains.

Gardaí and locals from Roundwood, Co. Wicklow, have rescued 60 Italian tourists who got stranded in the Wicklow Mountains.

The two buses they were travelling in got stuck in ice and frozen snow on the Wicklow Gap.

Gardaí were alerted to the scene at about 6pm.

Local people with four-wheel drive jeeps assisted Gardaí to bring the tourists to safety.

No-one was injured.
