Calls to helpline for elderly double at Christmas

Calls made to helplines by elderly people more than double during Christmas time, according to Senior Help Line, which provides a listening service for older people who are lonely or isolated.

A spokesperson for the organisation said there is a 60% increase in calls this time of year.
