Hospital waiting lists for children continue to grow

The numbers of children waiting more than six months for treatment in the nine target surgical speciality areas has gone up.

There are 734 children waiting on in-patient lists, compared to 634 in June.

The Department of Health has confirmed the total number of children on a long-term hospital waiting list at the end of September actually rose since the previous quarter.

The Eastern Regional Health Authority has been asked to carry out a further validation of hospital waiting lists for children.
