Up to 40,000 teachers could be denied their benchmarking pay awards because of a dispute over parent-teacher meetings, according to reports this morning.

The reports said a 10% pay rise due to be awarded to the teachers in January could be withheld due to the collapse of talks yesterday between unions and the Department of Education.
