Four arrested after seizure of smuggled cigarettes
Gardaí in Cavan have arrested four men in connection with the seizure of two million cigarettes in the town yesterday evening.
The cigarettes were found during a raid on a retail unit at the Kingscourt Enterprise Centre.
The four men arrested are believed to be from the North.
Two of them were released this morning and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Gardaí said they believed the cigarettes were smuggled into Ireland by dissident republicans and were not part of a consignment that was hijacked in the North on Monday.
