Mobile phone firms launch anti-theft initiative

Ireland’s three mobile phone companies have launched a new initiative aimed at combating the theft of mobile handsets.

Vodafone, O2 and Meteor said the identity numbers of all mobile phones would be put on a shared register accessible to all three companies.
