More than 80% of Irish people believe that prices have risen as a direct result of the euro changeover, according to a survey.

The reports said a Eurobarometer survey found that around 90% of people in the 15 EU member states felt they had been ripped off by retailers taking advantage of the introduction of the euro two years ago.

The survey also found that Irish people have adapted to the new currency faster than other Europeans.
