Public donations help fund custody appeal

The Derry woman who lost a US custody battle over her five-year-old son has received several large donations to help fund her appeal.

Cara Gunn needed £6,000 (€8,543) to challenge a Florida court’s decision to award custody of her son, Dylan, to his father, Bobby.

During the custody hearing, Bobby Gunn had claimed that Derry was a dangerous place to raise a child.

Foyle Women’s Aid said today that it had received several large donations from people interested in helping Ms Gunn’s appeal, including one for £3,000 (€4,272) and one for £2,000 (€2,848).
