Broadcasters who breach advert code to be taken off air

Communications Minister Dermot Ahern has announced plans to take radio and television stations off the air if they breach a proposed new code on children’s advertising.

Mr Ahern said he expected the code to be drafted next year.

The minister is due to meet the Broadcasting Commission later today to discuss the proposal.
