Green Party slams planned on-the-spot fines for cyclists
Green Party leader Trevor Sergeant has criticised Transport Minister Seamus Brennan’s plans to introduce on-the-spot fines for cyclists who break the rules of the road.
Mr Sergeant described the plan as "all stick and no carrot" and said Mr Brennan was discouraging people from cycling when he should be doing the opposite.
Under the minister’s plan, gardaí would get increased powers to fine motorists and cyclists who commit any type of minor offence.
