ASH says tobacco increase not enough

Anti-smoking group ASH has said the Minister for Finance has not increased cigarette prices enough.

Charlie McCreevy put an additional 25c on the price of 20 cigarettes.

ASH says a workplace ban on cigarettes should have been backed by a €2 increase on packets of 20.

ASH's Prof. Luke Clancy insisted a substantial increase is a simple answer to a serious problem.
