Eight departments to be moved out of the capital

Minister for Finance Charlie McCreevy, in a shorter-than-usual Budget speech, has announced that eight government departments will be decentralised.

The departments, to include the Office of Public Works, will be moved to provincial locations in line with the National Spatial Strategy, removing the focus from Dublin.
