The 2004 spend on social welfare will be €750m more than in 2003, an increase of more than 7%, Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy has announced.

The 2004 spend on social welfare will be €750m more than in 2003, an increase of more than 7%, Finance Minister Charlie McCreevy has announced.

There will be a €10 per week increase in old age pensions and a €6 increase in children's allowance for first and second children. An increase of €8 per week will apply for third and subsequent children.
