The number of staff in the school attendance service is being doubled in an attempt to cut down on the number of children mitching and dropping out of school.

The number of staff in the school attendance service is being doubled in an attempt to cut down on the number of children mitching and dropping out of school.

It has been estimated that the tax payer could save at least €14m a year on the costs of unemployment and crime, if young people could be prevented from dropping out of school before the Junior Cert.
