Sexual crimes on the increase

A quarter of all sexual crimes against women are committed by the victim’s partners or ex-partners.

According to figures released by Women’s Aid, husbands or boyfriends commit 14% of rapes while 3% are reported as date rape.

Spokesperson for the Rape Crisis Centre, Breda Allen, said it has become very hard for women to trust close friends and partners.
