Unborn baby added to 1974 bomb toll

The death toll from the Dublin bombings of 1974 is to be officially increased to 27 in order to take into account the death of an unborn child among the victims.

The bombs that exploded on Parnell St, Talbot St and South Leinster St in 1974 killed 26 people including Colette Doherty who was in her last days of pregnancy.

Now her unborn baby is to be officially recognised as a victim under Article 40 of the Constitution, which recognises the right to life of the unborn.
