American arrested for road death of Irishwoman
A 25-year-old man has been arrested in the US in connection with the fatal crash, which killed Irish woman Margaret Brohan 10 days ago.
Joseph Livoti, a private in the US National Guard was arrested yesterday and will face charges of homicide by vehicle while intoxicated.
It’s alleged that he was twice the legal limit when his pickup truck hit the car in which Margaret Brohan and was travelling with friends.
Nineteen-year-old Brohan, a well known sean nós dancer from Spancil Hill in Co Clare, was touring in the US with her dance troupe when the crash took place near to Robinson Township, outside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
She died at the scene, but was taken to Allegheny General Hospital where she was officially pronounced dead.
Colin O’Halloran, from Ballynacally, who was travelling in the car with Ms Brohan, and was also seriously injured in the accident, is reported to be recovering well.
He was taken off the critical list last Monday, but remains in intensive care.
