German charged with Irish girl's rape and murder
Police in Germany have charged a 38-year-old man with the murder and rape of an Irish backpacker in Munich 12 years ago.
Sinéad O'Neill, a 21-year-old who was from Templeogue in Dublin, had spent the summer of 1991 working in an Irish bar in the city when she was raped and murdered.
Police charged the man when a DNA sample taken from him in an unrelated incident was found to match semen found on Sinéad's body.
He has also admitted raping another woman and will go to trial next year.
