Public row between unionist rivals

There has been a public verbal row in the North between Ulster Unionist anti-Agreement MP, Jeffrey Donaldson, and Ivan David, a pro-Agreement unionist rival.

Both men are candidates in the assembly election next week and both claim loyalty to party leader, David Trimble.

However, Jeffrey Donaldson is anti-Agreement but running under the UUP flag, while Ivan David is pro-Agreement but running as an independent.

This incident shows how mixed-up and divided the Ulster Unionist Party is as it faces into next Wednesday's critical poll.

Mr Davis accused Mr. Donaldson of disloyalty and called him a "Trojan Horse" and a "serial betrayer".

Jeffrey Donaldson has hit back, accusing Mr Davis of putting his personal interests first and calling on him to withdraw from the race.
