Census employment information released

Carndonagh, Co Donegal, had a higher rate of unemployment than any other Irish town in 2002.

According to the latest census information released today, Enniscorthy, Carrick on Suir, Castleblaney and Dundalk were next in line.

Labour force participation was highest in the east of the country at around 60%.

The census also shows one in five workers in Killarney was employed in the hotel trade.
