Trócaire launches toy workers' rights campaign

Trócaire has launched a campaign seeking basic rights and improved working conditions for toy workers worldwide.

The aid agency said toy workers were still being denied their rights, despite the introduction of codes of conduct by some multinationals.

Spokesperson Lara Kelly said: "We'd like the Government to use international fora like the World Trade Organisation to really champion workers' rights.

"We're also calling for people to use their consumer power, to use their influence as consumers, to call for fair treatment for toy workers."
