Plans to conduct Ireland’s first heart-lung transplant operation at the Mater Hospital in Dublin have reportedly been delayed until next spring at the earliest.

Last year, it emerged that the Department of Finance was opposed to the opening of a heart-lung transplant unit at the Mater, saying it made no sense medically or financially.
