Book of estimates defended by Taoiseach

Taoiseach Bertie Ahern is dismissing claims that stealth charges in the Book of Estimates are tough on the less well-off in society.

Accident and Emergency charges are to go up by €5 per night while motor tax and passport fees will also rise in the next budget.
