Laois fatal assault victim named
The 14-year-old youth whose body was discovered in a field in County Laois overnight has been named.
Darragh Conroy, of Emmet Street, Mountmellick, was struck on the head with what gardaí believe may have been a hammer.
The assault took place in the Smithfield area of the town at around 11pm, and it's thought the teenager may have been dead for several hours before the alarm was raised.
A 15-year-old male is being held for questioning at Portlaoise garda station.
