Ahern says regional cabinet meetings will continue

The Taoiseach has told the Dáil that the Government will continue to hold cabinet meetings on an irregular basis in the regions.

He told the Dáil that the recent cabinet meeting in Emo, Co Laois cost €4,000 to stage.

Answering questions about the validity of the meetings, Mr Ahern said they afford the Government an opportunity to meet people and to hear about problems at first hand in the provinces.
