Tanaiste dismisses calls for organised crime unit

The Tanaiste, Mary Harney, has rejected Fine Gael calls for the immediate establishment of a special garda unit to tackle organised crime.

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny made the call following the collapse of a murder trial in the Central Criminal Court earlier this week.
