McGuinness to 'tell truth' about Bloody Sunday
Sinn Féin’s Martin McGuinness arrived at the Guildhall in Derry today to give evidence to the Bloody Sunday inquiry.
Mr McGuinness, who has admitted being second in command of the IRA on Bloody Sunday, said he was at the Saville Inquiry to tell the truth about what happened.
He said: “I’m here for Michael McDaid and all those who were murdered by the British Parachute Regiment on Bloody Sunday. I’m here for the families and for the truth they deserve.”
The Sinn Féin chief negotiator was accompanied to the Guildhall by supporters including West Tyrone MP Pat Docherty and the party’s national chairman Mitchel McLaughlin.
