Union members commemorate hero
The union movement honours one of its martyrs today as a special headstone will be unveiled in Deansgrange cemetery in Dublin at the grave of James Byrne who died while on hunger strike during the 1913 lockout.
The Dun Laoghaire branch secretary of the Irish Transport & General Workers failed to secure his release from prison for trade union activity.
