Daughter to miss Jean McConville funeral
A daughter of IRA murder victim Jean McConville will miss her funeral this Saturday because of a dispute over the burial location.
Helen McKendry was part of the 10-year campaign to find the body of her mother, who was shot dead by the IRA in 1972 and buried in an undisclosed location.
The campaign ended in August when Ms McConville’s remains were found on a beach in Co Louth.
However, the McConville family is now split over the funeral arrangements.
Mrs McKendry said yesterday that she would not be attending the funeral because of the dispute.
