Council calls for transparency in asylum appeals tribunal

The Irish Refugee Council has called for greater transparency in the way decisions are made by the appeals tribunal for failed asylum seekers.

The council has claimed that almost one-quarter of all appeals are upheld by the tribunal, leading to questions about why the original application was rejected in the first place.
