Elderly man dies in Co Galway house fire

A man in his 60s has died in a house fire in Corrandulla, Co Galway.

The fire service was alerted to the blaze at around 8am.

A number of other people who were in the house at the time are believed to have escaped unhurt.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The scene has been preserved for technical examination and a post mortem is due to be carried out on the dead man’s body later today.
