Anti-bin tax protests called off
Anti bin tax protestors last night called off their pickets at Council waste depots in Dublin for the rest of the week.
However, the four groups involved, which brought collections to a virtual stand-still in many parts of the capital, have warned that protests would resume if councils don't back down from their policy of non-collection and jailings.
The Irish Congress of Trade Unions last night called for an end to the protests and a two-week moratorium on prosecutions to allow for mediation.
ICTU has also called on protesters to refrain from blocking bin lorries.
