Labour seek new rules on jury escorts

The Labour Party has called for the introduction of new rules to govern the conduct of gardaí assigned to look after jury members.

The call follows the overturning of a murder conviction earlier this week due to the actions of gardaí charged with ensuring that the jury did not discuss the trial with anyone else while they were sequestered in a hotel overnight.
