The Minister for Transport, Séamus Brennan released figures showing a reduction of 81in the number of road deaths in the eleven months since the introduction of penalty points than in the same period in the preceding year.

The Minister for Transport, Séamus Brennan released figures showing a reduction of 81in the number of road deaths in the eleven months since the introduction of penalty points than in the same period in the preceding year.

Brennan welcomed the significant drop but warned that last weekend's tragic toll on the roads was a reminder of the need for all road users to exercise caution at all times, and particularly in poor weather conditions.
