Ahern says land cap may be unconstitutional

The Taoiseach has told the Dáil that it is unlikely the Government would have the legal right to cap the price of building land without constitutional change.

The Taoiseach has told the Dáil that it is unlikely the Government would have the legal right to cap the price of building land without constitutional change.

Bertie Ahern says that any move to cap land prices would more than likely be challenged in the courts, especially by farming groups.

However, he did say that the Constitutional Review Group was investigating the issue.
