Anti-waste charge protestors face charges in High Court

Anti-waste charge protestors are appearing before the High Court this morning accused of breaching court orders by blocking Dublin City Council's bin lorries.

The 25 protesters could face fines, imprisonment or both for breaching the order. The council says it is continuing to experience severe disruption despite an injunction granted last month.

Protests against the charges are likely to escalate following a vote by unions to launch a campaign of opposition to what's being dubbed a "double taxation".
