A man shot in the leg in Dublin today was on his way to the bank to lodge cash, it emerged this afternoon.

A man shot in the leg in Dublin today was on his way to the bank to lodge cash, it emerged this afternoon.

The man was on Lower Kilmacud Road when two armed men confronted him.

They shot him in the leg and made off with his cash.

A Garda patrol car was passing by when they witnessed the incident. They chased the gunmen by car into a dead end at Stillorgan Heath but were also then shot at.

Gardaí then chased the men on foot and arrested them. They recovered two guns and the stolen money.

The men are being held at Blackrock Garda Station. The injured man was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital.
