No rise in retirement age, says Coughlan
The Minister for Social Welfare has ruled out out any rise in the retirement age.
A report published by the Society of Actuaries recommended increasing the retirement age to a least 70.
It said that would be the most cost-effective way of reducing the State’s pension bill, which is set to more that double by 2050.
Minister Mary Coughlan says the Government is aware of our changing demographic.
