Environment Minister Martin Cullen has announced plans to introduce weight-based waste charges throughout Ireland.

Environment Minister Martin Cullen has announced plans to introduce weight-based waste charges throughout Ireland.

The minister said the plan was designed to encourage people to recycle as much rubbish as possible.

Mr Cullen said he had ordered all local authorities to replace annual fixed charges with weight-based charges within the next three years.
