Body of man found on road

An investigation was under way today after the body of a man was found lying on the road, gardaí said.

Officers received a report of a man lying on the ground in Shercock, Co Cavan in the early hours of this morning and found the man’s body when they arrived a short time later.

The body was still at the scene this morning awaiting the arrival of the State Pathologist. The scene was sealed off and the road was closed to traffic.

Gardaí said they did not yet know how the man had died.
