LUAS facing nine-month delay due to Red Cow 'mess'
Transport Minister Seamus Brennan’s plans to alter the LUAS line around Dublin’s Red Cow roundabout could cost an extra €20m and delay the project by nine months, according to reports this morning.
Mr Brennan is considering constructing a €20m LUAS flyover above the busy roundabout after the realisation that allowing the light-rail system to cross the roundabout would cause traffic nightmares.
However, a new Environmental Impact Study may be required before a flyover could be built.
This study could take as long as nine months. Minister Brennan has already admitted that the Red Cow section of the Tallaght LUAS line is a "mess" and a "huge mistake".
