Blair under new pressure to set election date

The British government tonight came under fresh pressure to set a date for Assembly elections in Northern Ireland.

Foreign Minister Brian Cowen, after talks with the nationalist SDLP, insisted his government supported all along the naming of the date for the Assembly election.
