Teenager attacked with hammer in Cork
A row between two teenagers in a field on Cork City’s Northside last night left one of them with life-threatening injuries.
A 16-year-old youth struck a 14-year-old youth on the head with a hammer a number of times after a row broke out in a field near Nash’s Boreen, near Fairfield, shortly after 9pm.
Gurranabraher gardaí, who are investigating the incident, said they were as yet unsure what sparked the row which they described as very serious.
They said that a call was made to the emergency services by the assailant shortly after the attack.
Cork City fire brigade, the ambulance services and the gardaí arrived at Nash’s Boreen 10 to 15 minutes after the call was received.
