Elderly people advised to get free pneumococcal jab

Ireland’s health boards have advised people over the age of 65 to have themselves vaccinated free of charge against the pneumococcal virus.

2,000 Irish people die every year from streptococcus pneumoniae infections, which can be prevented using the free vaccinations.
